Brauz pride themselves on providing sophisticated, cutting edge tools for brick and mortar retailers whilst designing a dramatically higher level of interaction and personalised shopping experience for the modern-day consumer.

When the idea was first conceived, Brauz CEO Lee Hardham was presented two key challenges; the first was hiring capability to deploy a robust, highly complex and functioning MVP that would engage users from the get go. The second was capturing an early market share as competitor platforms were popping up at retail conventions all over the world.

“In the beginning, we thought it would be simple to brief a freelancer…” After 3 years and no product in the market, Brauz approached Buzinga to start over.

Initially, Brauz chose to go down the ‘freelancer’ route, working with various development and design talent from all over the globe to pull together a multi-platform system that included an e-commerce application, a real time mobile responsive admin portal, integrated beacon technology and sophisticated cloud computing.

Almost 3 years down the track, with no product in the market and severe sleep deprivation, CEO Hardham went back to the drawing board to look for a full-stack development team with mobile engagement expertise and product management who were close to his home in Melbourne.

“In the beginning, I thought it would be simple to brief a freelancer,” Hardham said, “We’d done our due diligence, written our business plan, designed our user flows, but it was evident in the product result that it was missing a Project Manager, a UX designer and someone with an understanding of quality assurance to lead the project.” Now an experienced technologist, Hardham knew what he was looking when he hired Buzinga as his development partner.

“You could see that Buzinga ‘got it’ the moment we sat in the room with them. The ideas that were flowing showed their greater understanding of the grand vision of the product, it was particularly impressive because our product is not simple.”

With the Buzinga team taking care of the design, development and testing, the company was able to focus on business development. This is when the real magic happened. Within 6 months of hiring Buzinga, Brauz acquired investment of over $1m, doubled their team, travelled the country to present at retail conventions and signed up several of Australia’s largest retailers including Priceline.

With a fully functioning product in the market just 6 months later, Brauz have now grown their own internal team.
