If you haven’t been following my YouTube series – The 10 Key Factors of a Successful Tech Product – You’ve chosen a great week to tune in.
The 7th factor I’ll be talking about this week, is the importance of setting measurable metrics that determine the success of your mobile app.
To truly build a successful tech product, you can’t hide behind vanity metrics like simple “downloads” and “Facebook likes.”
Can you really say that your app is successful if you have 100,000 downloads, but no one opens your app again after a week?
I’m going to say, that’s a big fat NO!
First, you need to collect real data, such as engagement and retention metrics.
Then, you must dig into the data and find out where the pain points are in your mobile app.
Are there any drop-off points that are causing people to leave your app?
From this, you’ll find that there are opportunities to improve your user experience, by creating winning app updates.
If there is one thing that companies like Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook have become an expert at, its data collection and adjusting the user experience to increase engagement rates.
